Everything you need to know, from picking the right
size and look to arranging it in your space.
Start with Size
This first step can be the trickiest one. Our biggest tip? Have fun with it! Play with the
placement and shape to find a unique look you love. Here's a breakdown, room by room.
Design Tips
From small rugs to large circular or rectangular ones, there are multiple sizes and layouts
that work. The most common rule: Choose an area rug that extends at least a foot from either side of
the bed.For larger rooms or beds, consider a rug that can also fit your nightstands.
If you have a desk and chair, go big so the entire area is covered or ensure the chair has enough space to roll without getting stuck on the edge
of the rug.''
Design Tips
From small rugs to large circular or
rectangular ones, there are multiple sizes and
layouts that work.Place your nursery chair either entirely on or off the rug for the smoothest glide, rock
or recline.Depending on the size of the nursery, your crib can sit either entirely on or off the rug. With a flatter weave, you can sit just the front legs on the rug.
The more rug you leave exposed, the more soft space your little one has to play and explore.
Design Tips
From small rugs to large circular or
rectangular ones, there are multiple sizes and
layouts that work. For playrooms with a table and chairs, leave at least a foot of space on all four sides so chairs can pull in and out easily.
Interactive play rugs and mats can bring a fun element to the space that encourages imaginative play.
Consider a washable rug to accomodate spills and heavy foot traffic.
Design Tips
A small rug can be used at the foot of a bed or as a runner between two beds.
A larger rug will act as a shared landing spot for siblings, covering just between the beds or stretching into the common area.
For rooms with a loft or bunk bed, choose a rug that can extend at least a foot from either end of the bed.
If the bed has a built-in desk or storage, go big so the entire area is covered or ensure the chair or drawers have enough space to roll without getting stuck on the edge of the rug.
