how to design
A Girl's Room
A girl's room should be comfortable and fun, and most of all, it should reflect who she is.
To create a space she loves to be in, let her have a hand in the design decisions from the start.

FIND A MOTIF
Select a theme for her room based on hobbies she loves and things that make her who she is. It may be an activity, like dancing or horse riding, or images such as butterflies or flowers. Be sure to pick a motif she'll like over time, rather than something that's a passing fad.

START WITH THE BASICS
Choose one major element to get the rest of the room started. Garden-themed bedding, for example, might lead you to window coverings and accessories in bright, cheerful colors. Or, a boldly pattern rug could mean that you prefer a more neutral background for the room's remaining elements.
CHOOSE A COLOR
If you can't seem to agree on a color, look for ways to make both options work together. Contrasting accents throughout the room can be a welcome change from the room's overall palette.

CHANGE OUT DETAILS
As she grows, her taste will change – but that doesn't have to mean a complete room makeover. Something as simple as changing out the drawer knobs on her dresser or rearranging the art on the wall can make her space feel brand new and exciting.
