Plan an Anchors Away Baby Shower

by The TomKat Studio

This gorgeous nautical-themed baby shower is perfect for summer. While this theme could be used indoors or out, it's absolutely perfect for a pool or beach setting. We used a striking color palette of navy and yellow inspired by our nautical nursery collections. Anchors, starfish, rope accents and classic stripes add to the nautical feel of this shower.

THREE TO FOUR WEEKS BEFORE:

Decide on a location and time. If weather permits, this nautical theme is ideal outdoors by a pool or even the beach. Decide on what time of day the party will start so you can determine what food and desserts to serve.

Print and deliver invitations. Use our printable navy and yellow anchor invitation to invite guests to the shower. Be sure to include the mommy-to-be's registry information. The invitation design

coordinates with the entire printable collection for the party and sets the mood for the event.

Plan the decorations. Printable party designs always provide a great starting point for planning colors and decorations. Download printable tags, drink/food flags and flag banner templates to add a finishing touch to the party decor. Paper lanterns add a pop of color and can be hung from patios, umbrella or trees.

WEEK OF THE SHOWER:

Shop and prepare food/desserts. Shop for ingredients and supplies early in the week. Prepare any food and desserts that you can in advance to save time on the day of the party.

Decide on party setup. If you are creating a dessert/food table display, determine the placement of the table and the cake plates and platters you will need for each food item. Be sure to create varying heights for the display table to add interest to the display. Plan the seating for your guests; borrow or rent tables and chairs so that each guest has a place to be

seated. Rope vessels filled with candles or fresh flowers make great nautical centerpieces.

Prepare paper goods and party favors. Print and assemble any of the paper elements you are using for the shower. Decide on a small gift as a party favor for each guest to take as they leave. We filled small white pillow boxes with candy, wrapped them with rope and topped them with a printable favor tag. Gumball tubes are also a fun, colorful idea display and gift idea.

Day of the Party:

Prepare food and desserts. Prepare the food and desserts for the shower. Ideas include blueberry banana pudding parfaits and lemon tartlets with blueberries. A nautical themed cake, cupcakes and/or cookies are always welcome additions to a dessert display.

Add decorations and banners. Using our printable templates, create flag banners to tie in the nautical theme of the shower. Hang paper lanterns to add color and create a festive atmosphere for the shower.
