Ice Cream Balloons

Balloons are a birthday party staple — but they can do so much more than just float above a chair in a bundle. Here, we used balloons in complementary colors to create oversized ice cream cone decorations. Place them anywhere you want to add an air of whimsy.

Tools and Materials

  • Helium (for floating balloons)
  • Balloons
  • Patterned paper
  • Stapler
  • Hot glue gun
  • Fishing wire

Step by Step Instructions

1. Roll patterned paper into a cone shape. Staple to secure.

2. Use helium to blow up a balloon. Knot and tie the balloon off with fishing wire.

3. Feed fishing wire through the cone, and secure the balloon to the cone with tap or via a small dab of hot glue on the inside of the tip of the cone. Hold the fishing wire in place until the dab of hot glue cools and hardens around it.
