Shell Napkin rings

A few white cowry shells and some baker's twine is all you need to create these sweet napkin rings. A ceramic drill bit will allow you to drill holes in the shells without breaking them.

Tools and Materials

  • Cowry shells
  • Baker's twine
  • A pin
  • Scissors
  • Hot glue

Step-By-Step Instructions

1. Soak, rinse and dry the shells.

2. Cut a piece of twine about 18–20" long.

3. Use the tip of the pin to push the twine through the shells, threading two on one end, and one on the other end.

4. Dab a small bead of hot glue on the inside of each shell to keep them from slipping off the twine.

5. Wrap the twine around the napkin three to four times and tie off with a square knot, leaving the ends about 3" long.
