Refreshing Old-Fashioned Lemonade
After a long day of playing in the sun, few things are more appealing than a glass of homemade lemonade.
“For a sweeter touch, try adding in a bit of fresh strawberries, or if you'd like a new take on this classic refreshment, try switching out the lemon juice for lime.
”
Ingredients
- 8 cups water
- 3⁄4 cup white sugar
- 1 1⁄2 cups lemon juice
- 1 1⁄2 cups fresh or frozen macerated strawberries (optional)
Preparation
In a small saucepan, combine 1 cup of water and sugar. Stir until sugar is dissolved. Bring to a boil for about a minute. Allow mixture to cool, then cover and refrigerate until chilled.
Remove seeds from lemon juice. Leave pulp if desired, or else strain to remove. In large pitcher, stir together lemon juice, chilled sugar mixture and remaining 7 cups water. Add strawberries if desired.
